Tom and Carol: Club Leadership Profile
Tom and his wife Carol have been passionate Model A Fords - owners for about ten years. Their current vehicle is a 1931 Slant Deluxe Model A, which succeeded their earlier Model A sedan. Alongside his enthusiasm for vintage cars, Tom also enjoys flying radio-controlled model aircraft, showcasing his diverse interests and hobbies. As a local business owner and operator, Tom brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and strong organizational skills to his role as club president—a position he has held previously within the club.
Tom invites all Model A Ford owners and admirers to join the Alamo As club. He describes the club, now in its 61st year, as being founded and maintained by those who truly appreciate Henry Ford's remarkable vehicles from the late 1920s and early 1930s. According to Tom, the Alamo A’s club is among the oldest, largest, and most active in South Texas. Primarily a touring club, its members are also dedicated to helping one another keep these nearly century-old cars running as if they were new.

Miguel “Mike” Mares and Camila Chapa Mares: A Life of Dedication and Adventure
Miguel “Mike” Mares and Camila Chapa Mares share a deep passion for traveling, connecting with new friends, and embracing the joys of family and community events. Their love for the open road is especially evident when they journey in their beautifully preserved 1931 Ford Model A Town Sedan.
Mike committed 31 years to the San Antonio Police Department, followed by five years serving as Constable in Atascosa County. Camila devoted 35 years to the retail industry, including 25 years with H-E-B and a decade with Best Buy. Their long-standing dedication and hard work have paved the way for a well-deserved retirement filled with relaxation and enjoyment.
Mike and Camila particularly enjoy discovering the scenic back roads of Texas alongside friends from the Alamo A’s Model A Club. Together, they share laughter, stories, and a mutual appreciation for vintage automobiles.
Both are enthusiastic about many more years of fellowship and touring. As the newly appointed Vice President, Mike is eager to help lead the club by encouraging members to stay engaged, active, and out on the open road. He believes Model A Fords are meant to be driven, not left to collect dust in the garage.
"If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said 'faster horses'".
